I’ll let you know how it is.

Hmmm… problem I have with that idea is that *The Fifth Element* is an OK if offbeat sci-fi comedy up until that bizarre hybrid of RuPaul and a guinea pig on speed (why the makers didn’t sue Lucasfilm the moment Jar Jar was unveiled is beyond me) turns up in the second half, and afterwards, it’s beyond parody. For my money, he should go for the *Lost in Space* movie: it’s got that combination of bad, hackneyed, cliched sci-fi on the one hand, and taking itself far too seriously on the other.

I’ve gone cold on Mike. I don’t care for his politics (Hugh Hewitt, Mike? Really?), and now he’s moving to San Diego after the Brains made such a huge deal out of not moving to California and keeping to their roots.
Maybe I’m being petty, but Mike just turns me off now.

Ah hell, I don’t wanna think about Mike Nelson’s politics. It’ll ruin it for me.

Yeah, don’t boycott/bash an entertainer because of their politics. It doesn’t change anything in the world except making your life a little (or a lot) more miserable. My solution is to assassinate the disagreeable politician-in-question, but the right thing to do is to forget what anyone else thinks and fuckin’ live a little.

Ech, unfortunately, details about the creator affect how I feel about their creation.

Yeah, I had a feeling that’d be a link to your OotS blog. Freakin Burlew.

I still haven’t been able to bring myself to rent Roadhouse. But I did download the X-Men riff and… well, it was kind of lame. I also purchased Star Trek V, which I’m hoping may be better as it has much more meaty mockery-making material, I just have to dig up a copy of that movie somewhere.
Any other RiffTrax reviews?

Yeah, I’ve seen several of the rifftrax, and they have been pretty good. Not as good as best of MST3K, but still pretty funny. The Mike Nelson/Kevin Murphy rifftrax tend to be the best.
The lord of the rings rifftrax really stands out as the best. It was a pee-your-pants nonstop laugh riot. But, it was also respectful to the material, as it is the exception where they riffed a really good movie.
This said, their politics really do bother me. I try to ignore it and just enjoy the shows. But, the comments tend to be of the divorced-from-reality frothing-at-the-mouth variety. Real right-wing nut-job cracks.
This is not to say that the rifftrax are overtly political. It just the consistent occasional jab really sours it for me, and the more rifftrax I watch, the more noticible and irritating these comments become.
