META

Two SpinnWebe things: first, I started a guest run of Scribs that will go to the end of the month, on the theme “getting ready for halloween“.

The other one’s more significant for me: I got together a standard header for all my active (and sorta active) sites and put it at the top of all of them. This is part of the reason why I haven’t been getting SpinnWebe together–I wanted to have this standard thing first, so when I make page templates I can make it a standard for all new pages. right now it’s just some cross-linking and a shill for my Dreamhost referral, but I wanna get it Ajaxxed up so it’ll show last updates on request, and whatever else I feel like throwing in.

The header idea’s cool, but what’s with that flowery, butterfly-ish SW logo?

Hmm, “flowery” isn’t quite the word I’m looking for. “Feminine” and “Fluffy” are closer, but still not… Ah, “Faggy”– yeah, that’s it.

Heh. Even before I saw the cheater line at the right of the window (which I had to scroll long and hard to see and am still recovering from), that was my first thought. “Lemme stop this animation before the roses start blooming.”

I have a sudden desire for a Sea Breeze and some quality time with my My Little Pony collection.

I dunno, I kinda like it. The old logo had that not-so-fresh feeling. The new logo looks like just the thing you’d use to clear that up.

As a woman, I feel that the new logo really empowers me to embrace the spinnwebe paradigm in uplifting gender-conscious ways. It’s like a gothier Oxygen Network.

However, you could have picked a background colour that matched at least one of your active sites.

I seem to recall that criticizing Spinn’s background color leads to blinky trauma.

Actually, I could stare at that ‘W’ for hours.

    It’s mesmerizing.

I mean, seriously, the longer I stare at that ‘W’, the more I see fallopian tubes and a very hungry vulva, waiting to devour a man’s manhood.

The ‘S’ is kind of sinister, too, in a serpentine sort of way.

Basically, that SpinnWebe logo is darkly erotic.

“Basically, that SpinnWebe logo is darkly erotic.”

    Oh yeah. It wants me.

Mind you, I embrace diversity. Whatever flag you’re flying, as long as you aren’t so close that people think it’s mine, feel free to unfurl your free spirit to the wind.

    I had stepmother issues.

    I’m better now.

    No, really.

After the initial “huh?” I’ve fully embraced it as something subversive and cool. Sort of like Wii.

Gahh, headers make me go crazy. Is it possible to make it a footer?

I think the flowery lettering is adorable, though.

A thin yellow-ish header bar with a button to the right is unfortunately similar in appearance to the Firefox/IE popup blocker notifier, which I tend to filter out without even considering it.

Yeah, that wasn’t so much the intention, but once I realized the similarity, decided it was a good thing. I don’t mind it being mostly ignorable.
