Ugh…unreasonable people
Man do I dislike it when people put aside logic in favor of their bias.
Media Matters - Michelle Malkin fiddles while Baghdad burns
At least according to warblogger Anchoress: “I wonder how many of our troops are being further endangered by the fakery we’re discovering here? I wonder how many of their deaths in the coming weeks will be due to this sort of stuff? … The press is literally trying to not simply destroy the man [Bush] but take down his government and surrender a military action that is important to the survival of our identity.”
Did you get that? The Associated Press is killing U.S. soldiers, destroying the presidency, taking down the American government, and surrendering its national security. Who knew?

Two things stick out here for me.
1: “I wonder how many of our troops are being further endangered by the fakery we’re discovering here? I wonder how many of their deaths in the coming weeks will be due to this sort of stuff?”
Huh? How? “Well, boys, SATCOM, thermal imaging, and our own recon says that the enemy’s holed up in this building, but this AP story says they’re in the one over here, so let’s go with their target. Oh, also says they’re not too well-armed, so we can leave the rifles and armor behind this time.”
2: “…surrender a military action that is important to the survival of our identity.”
At last, an explanation for why we’re there! “Mom, all the other countries are watching! You’re gonna make me look like a dork!”

The joys of egocasting. It’s certainly my word of 2006 - it’s like collaborative truthiness.

Speaking of words of the year…I just got back from the Linguistic Society of America meeting and the American Dialect Society and American Name Society voted “to get Plutoed” as the word of the year. They hit new lows every year.
