Wow, you have shitty taste in fonts AND a huge chip on your shoulder. Maybe you should read what Greg said and put it to use in the future instead of being a twat about it. At worst your font is annoying, at best it's simply amateurish -- it looks like a crappy webpage choice, not something you'd find in a published book. You fail.

So you feel the need to impose your will over the author's to make your life easier, and your skin is as thin as chiffon. You should do quite well in the publishing industry.

Evidently not, no. "As if [the font] really has anything to do with the book"? I'm sorry, what line of work did you say you were in?

So the author thought it sucked ass as well, but you talked him into it because it solved your own technical issues and because the name made you feel like you were being clever. Yes, surely in the publishing industry those are much more important considerations than choosing a font that isn't fucking annoying to read. Well done, sir. Well done indeed.

I'll take the credit for the scripty esses that pisses Greg off so much. So much so that he had to upload a page of them for everyone at Amazon to see--as if it really has anything to do with the book--really!?#@!

Truth be told, John wasn't crazy about them either, and I talked him into it.

The font is called Eidetic Neo Italic, and is part of the Eidetic Family from Emigre. I chose it for a couple of reasons:
1) the font's name alone says a lot about John, and
2) it had sans-serif and serif versions that went well together so I could use one family to solve a lot of semi-complex typographical "needs" John had.

So, font geek, that the story. I'm glad you were able to get over those annoying esses that made you recall childhood trauma--chosing to live that out by debasing other's work--but hey, not everyone's had enough therapy, right?

Weird, I used to read zug.com years ago, but I completely forgot about it over time. I had no idea it had connections with Spinnwebe. (Or maybe I did and I forgot that too.)

Anyway, my interest is fully revived and I want to check out the book.
