A for dystopia, C for realism. Since when do offices allow much advertising of any kind in? Maybe the occasional restaurant flyer gets in, and of course all the promotional products from conferences, salesmen, etc., but not much with any permanence or prominence, definitely not stuff the company is paid to put in. They don't want attention pulled away from work.

Ok then, how about stores inside malls but away from the food court? Or Walmart? Any big box store really. Airports perhaps? I'm sure if one put their mind to it a vast array of places this could be implemented would spring forth.

I'm pretty sure Subway already does this with their bread smell. And I think Costco's bakery vents straight into the parking lot, too. But then again, I'm also convinced Pringles have nicotene.

Minivet: uh, yeah, way to construct a position you can argue with, there.

What, you mean my hedging? If so, I don't apologize for not being so cocksure as to call my off-the-cuff generalization the gospel truth.

I still can't think of an instance where a company accepts payment to advertise to their own employees (as opposed to customers). If someone suggests one, maybe I can think about it more constructively.

Or else you-plural don't find it interesting. That's fine too.

Er, what? No, the "realism" part, you made up, I'm saying. I didn't say I'm expecting a company to exist in the next three days where I can start renting smell time. I just said it was kinda a funky idea. But then you went with "well it couldn't happen, and here's why you're wrong" and I was all "WHOA WHOA WHOA THERE."

I can't figure out a way to get an e-mail to you, but I'd like to see if it'd be cool to play that Abe Vigoda song on our podcast - The Stuart Bedasso Show. Can you send me an e-mail to let us know if it'd be cool? Thanks.

Spinn:

Ah, my bad. The issue of realism was really just something I wanted to muse about, but then I wrote it all confrontationally. Sorry.

Also, I completely misunderstood your first reply.
