Marc Ambinder (September 05, 2008) - No Interviews Till She’s Ready
A senior McCain campaign official advises that, despite the gaggle of requests and pressure from the media, Gov. Sarah Palin won’t submit to a formal interview anytime soon. She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she’s ready — and until she’s comfortable — which might not be for a long while — the media will have to wait. The campaign believes it can effectively deal with the media’s complaints, and their on-the-record response to all this will be: “Sarah Palin needs to spend time with the voters.”Not out of the question are appearances on lighter, fluffier television shows. But — not for a while.

Until she’s comfortable.
Until she’s comfortable.
holy GOD. I mean I BESEECH THEE, LORD ON HIGH, HOW CAN THOU SUFFER SUCH BANAL HYPOCRISY IN THY PERFECT DOMINION.
holy FUCK. It’s like they’re just TOYING with us. LAUGHING at us. “Behold! the Palin, the embodiment of all taunts and derision we have hurled at you lo these many years. The non-existent strawman made flesh, and we shall make her vice president! And we will CHEER for her! And we will STILL say you are not experienced and you will not put country first and that you are not ready from day one! And WHAT YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT, MOTHERFUCKER?”

Spinn…need to relax a bit…gotta watch the blood pressure, blood sugar, and general anxiety…won’t make it long enough to play putt-putt down in Wildwood like someone we know who did it for many years.

I just have to say that I love this post, and your own response to it.

I swear to god, stuff like this gets past everyone because religion is taking a piss on higher education and thusly we have unwashed masses of God-fearing retards who refuse anything more than the most basic education. Most of who are from the south where the public education system is abysmal and grossly underfunded anyway.
And by “stuff like this” I mean all the assorted crap the republicans are spewing forth from the dark, damp, hellish pit or despair that passes for their conscience.

spinn - do not calm down. Give in to your ire, feed the rage. This country’s been a sham for a while, and it’s finally coming to a head. Until enough people get angry enough to finally stand up to these bottom-feeding power whores, they will continue to treat us like valueless pawns.
I’m no McCain supporter, but I laughed when he chose this VP. He just shot his conservative republican votes to absolute hell. Just choosing a woman alone shakes his foundation (which is sad but true, I’m not sexist in the least). With the Palin Mysteriosa game, all he’s doing now is trying to control the flames that surround him as his campaign goes down.
What should really be pissing us off is the fact that WE DO NOT CHOOSE OUR VICE PRESIDENT. Isn’t that a little, uh, stupid? We can vote in the leader of the country, but we have absolutely no control over who his/her potential successor is. Not only that, but isn’t the VP also president of the senate? A crucial body of legislation? The whole damn thing stinks.

We used to vote for the vice president, long, long ago.
It created an amusing situation in which the vice president and president did not get along at all. The situation was so ridiculous, apparently, that the laws were changed to what we have today.
I wish I could remember the details, though… it’s kind of a fascinating bit of our country’s history.

Brilliant pick by McCain!
After all, who among us wouldn’t immediately fall in love with Sarah after her spitfire introduction speech (full of integrity, honesty, reform ideas, etc.) “just six whole days ago today”. Which one of you crass Sarah critics wouldn’t want to propose marriage to someone that you’d just today viewed and read their spectacular profile at some dating site. Yeah, propose right now befor she gets away. Don’t even think of following up with any other pesky questions to judge her on. Nope, I don’t even want to know any more details. She’s the gal for me and that’s that. Even in “My Fair Lady”, Eliza Doolittle had a lot more examination than this glorious gem (remember McCain had talked to her just twice before). How dare that nasty MSM even try to schedule any probing interviews with her. We certainly don’t want them to maybe find out that all those inspiring stories that she told to us just might turn out to be —BIG FAT LIES!!
I like small town values too but who do you think McCain might pick for Department of Justice—-Barney Fife??
Besides, the person that should be concerned is actually Cindy McCain. Johnny boy while still married left his first beautiful wife (after she had been in a horrible car accident which caused her to lose height and gain ugly weight) and ran off with the younger, prettier, “RICHER” Cindy. Well—watch out Cindy—a new, younger “Hot Babe” just strolled into town and just might sway “the original skirt chaser” away from even you!
Remember when the press was hounding Britney Spears and that awful You-Tube video defending her came out “LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE”. Well, for all you jealous Sarah haters out there here’s my mantra for you “LEAVE THE PIT-BULL ALONE”!!

It is just the vice president…focus on the president here…and know that neither will be doing anything FOR you, only TO you.
Without googling…name the running mates/vice presidents for the following:
Jimmy Carter
Michael Dukakis
Bob Dole
Remember it is the vice president…and McCain’s mother is still alive at 96. Might not be a simple case for Gov Palin to become president.
Mikki - you swear to god about God fearing people?…gotta love your generalities about religion, south, education…
September 7th, 2008 02:01
Having spent the middle third of my life in the south, having been witness to the public education system (which I’ll admit I did not go through, but my two younger siblings did), a public school system which in several areas of the south, specifically the parts I lived in, is grossly underfunded, and knowing many people in many religions, including my own, who are starkly oppossed to higher education because they feel it detracts from God’s principals and values I feel I have more than enough authority on those subjects to bitch about it in the comments of someone’s blog.

It’s very much about the president. Choosing the VP is about the most important pre-election decision a nominee can make. The McCain camp keeps wanting to say Obama doesn’t have the judgment necessary for the position…but man, if you look at a person who picks Biden for VP, or a person who picks Palin, who has the better judgment?
I know a lot of people would say Palin, actually, and that’s a lot of what frustrates me. Because there’s a big group of people who reallt do think she’s a great choice. It’s just so hard for me to wrap my head around it.
September 8th, 2008 12:01
MikeG, you’re right that the vice president selection doesn’t usually matter. McCain, however, is one of the extraordinary times where it does. With this election coming after a presidency that invested a lot of power in the second-banana position, we should care more about what the veep does than we did during the era that brought us Mondale, Bentsen, and Quayle. Considering also that McCain is of advanced age and uncertain medical state, it’s very likely that his pick could assume the presidency, rather than be elected to it.

I had a good whinge about this a few days ago over at DailyKos.
