sooooon my pretty, sooooooon
I’ve drawn 82 new Scribs so far, and I had to finally decide on what order they’ll go in, so I printed thumbmails and numbered ‘em. It just looks neat.
Like I’ve said before, I feel like I’m actually doing a comic now, rather than just scribbling crap down. Seeing them all together like this reinforces that for me. And I had some funny line about revealing the state of my desk, but I forget it now but it was wicked awesome.
I’m kinda excited about getting Scribs running again. And for me, the story is almost less about the site but more that I’m excited about it. Some time back I wrote how I’d given up playing Warcraft expecting my motivation to create would magically come back, but couldn’t muster the will to do much more than play a rotation of some other games and be grumpy about it. But apparently “magically” just means “boredom plus time”, because here I am with a new site nearly ready to go.
Actually it mostly is ready; my “must-have” list is nearly done except for the admin for comic scheduling/maintenance, but as that’s just a background thing I could just enter comic data into the database manually. But experience tells me I’m much more productive when I get technology out of the way (compare the number of my updates in my blog to the number of my updates on Facebook), so I’d like to get that locked down as soon as I can.
I even have more tolerance for the tech side than normal. I think this is the first time I did development using svn for a personal project — or actually the first time I did it because I felt like it was a good idea, rather than “I should probably be using source control because what kind of a geek would I be if I don’t.”
Plus, the comic itself isn’t bad. I have 82 of ‘em done now, and they range from “okay” to “really funny”, which 1) surprises me because I wasn’t sure I even had another set of comics in me, 2) puts me above a whole lot of comics I’ve seen recently, and 3) makes me happy. My standards require I don’t put out crap, and while some people will think the ones I think are okay are actually crap, well that’s their opinion and screw ‘em anyway, they can follow the “if you didn’t like Scribs” links for stuff more to their liking.
