Style

Figure 2 came about because I ran across Small Things Eating Big Things and drew a couple for it. Its web interface reminds me of the way I usually wind up doing web interfaces: quirky, fun to put together, works in a way that amuses me, and probably ultimately irritating for the user.

I’ve had some reactions to the Series Two Scribs art, and responses have been more mixed than I’d expected. It didn’t even occur to me that some people would prefer the previous minimal style over this; I’ve just been thinking of it as “better”. Fortunately I’m at a point where I’m happy with it — usually this feedback would make me all stupid and second guess myself, but nah, I think it’s okay. Actually right now it’s still sloppier than I want, but the later ones are pretty good. Not sure how much time it’s actually going to take to get to those, though.

Oh, and P.S.: for those of you who read the comic via RSS, I’ve decided I’m leaving the comics in the feed. I’ll just have the question answers linked to the site, so you’ll just have to get a taste of the site every so often.

Personally, I think the strips in the previous style were better, *but* that’s because you’d practiced and refined it. In time, the strips in this style will be far better than those.

TF2 Shoutout!!! Rock on. What’s your Steam account name? I’ll add you to my friends list.

Yeah, I get some TF2-related traffic from some work I did on Concerned. (steam name is spinn_, and I have a tragic 2fort addiction, so don’t expect me to be in any games that are necessarily interesting.)

2fort is a fantastic map, but I don’t play it nearly enough. I’m more of a King of the Hill kind of guy. Harvest is probably my map of choice.

I sent you an invite. It’s under “Heatvision.” Actually, I have two accounts… long story short, I screwed up when I bought the Orange Box and signed up for another Steam account. So one is for Orange Box games, and the other is for everything else. In case you’re ever playing L4D2.

L4D2 and Dragon Age have really cut into my TF2 time, but hopefully I’ll get back into my groove. I haven’t played since the Soldier vs. Demo war. I haven’t even tried out the new item crafting system yet! But hey, I’ll be back on rockin’ the Pyro or Demoman at some point, so maybe I’ll see you on a server.
